Sustainability and the City. Basel

Worm composter. Up-cycled materials.

Introducing the 'Worming' worm composter.

A few years ago I decided to start my own compost pile. On the balcony. In the city. Although Kompost Berating Basel is amazing in offering free counselling and delivery of cost free materials, I felt the need to compost on a smaller scale and somehow come up with gardening soil quicker.

After many late nights and a lot of research I came to the conclusion that Vermicomposting (composting with worms) was 100% the way to go. My siblings were already into it so it made sense for me to give it a go too.

I decided to go with pre-used materials for the boxes. Up-cycling is fun and awesome, and inevitably gives the final product more character but it also saves costs and, more importantly, saves more stuff stuff stuff! from being thrown away. The worms come from an amazing company called Rubellis.com

My website urbanwormcomposter has all the information you need. Free help and consultation is also available if you want to know more, and to find out if this is the way to go for you.

The worms work really fast, and in no time you'll have amazing compost soil that your vegetable garden will go crazy for! Best of all it's compact and doesn't smell.

Happy Worming!
