2in1 Shampoo bar Soap

Solid shampoo, coconut oil bar soap.

The best thing I ever did for my hair and body was to make this coconut oil soap/shampoo bar from Mommypotamus. It is easy to make and can be adapted by adding dried herbs, flower petals or fruit peels and essential oils. Heather from Mommypotamus also has tons of other amazing recipes and advice for healthy and sustainable living.

If you don't have the time to make your own soap or just want to try it out before committing to making a whole batch, you can buy a piece here: soaps and baskets.

The Lather on this soap is amazing and it works well as a body wash and shampoo. When moving from a conventional shop bought shampoo to solid shampoo, be warned that your hair will need some adjustment time to get used to being stripped of the chemicals it was previously used to. But it will all be worth it in the end!

What is also important to mention is the use of conditioner. You will no longer need conventional conditioner as the best thing to use is a 10:1 ratio mixture of water and lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. I like to pour this on my hair, brush it through and then leave it on a few minutes before rinsing.

Enjoy!
